Wave - Moving past the hype

Okay, Wave seems to be travelling along the hype cycle nicely. Right now we're sitting in the disillusionment trough as people start to realise that it's not going to be the answer to world hunger or the next twitter killer. We're seeing posts from the cogniscenti declaring wave to be a failed experiment and public interest has dropped off considerably.

Excellent.

"Umm what?" I hear you say. "Why is it a good thing that people are losing interest in wave?"

It's a good thing because those of us who are still around, still eager to build on the wave can now start building without impossible expectations. We can start building services that put wave into situations where it's best suited rather than try and shoe horn it into being a blogging platform or "social media" site.

Really this is where the real work begins.
